DIG Fayoade Mustapha Adegoke visited Osun State to reinforce police neutrality and effectiveness, commending local leadership while pledging a non-partisan approach to security during the election period.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Fayoade Mustapha Adegoke, who oversees Information and Communication Technology and the South-West region, has pledged that the Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to safeguarding peace and public trust within Osun State. During his visit to the state command in Osogbo this Thursday, Adegoke relayed messages of support from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu and praised the local force for keeping the region secure.

Addressing local stakeholders and law enforcement, Adegoke emphasized his personal ties to the state while highlighting the protection of citizens as a core duty. Despite recent challenges involving cult-related activity during the election cycle, he noted that the command has made significant strides by seizing weapons and implementing effective crime-prevention strategies. He specifically lauded Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan for his leadership.

Adegoke underscored that the police force operates strictly according to the Nigerian Constitution, maintaining a neutral and professional stance regardless of political pressures. He reminded officers that their loyalty is owed solely to the law, urging them to remain disciplined and impartial.

The DIG expressed gratitude for the material support provided by the Osun State Government and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, which has bolstered regional policing capacity. He also recognized the contributions of retired officers, the Police Community Relations Committee, and various civic groups for their role in improving intelligence and public safety. In his meeting with the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, Larooye II, Adegoke confirmed that extra officers have been deployed to address security gaps and reassured residents that political events will not compromise the state’s stability.
