A wave of anxiety spread through the University of Jos on Tuesday following the discovery of a headless corpse on a farm located at the school’s permanent site. School officials clarified that the deceased was not affiliated with the institution as a student or employee but was a local farmer who frequently worked the land.
Pius Atok, a 300-level student, reported that the body was discovered early in the morning, which triggered widespread concern across the campus. The university’s Chief Security Officer, Agama Tangni, verified the gruesome event. He noted that the man was a recognized figure in the area who typically arrived at his crops during the early hours of the day.
Tangni indicated that the incident appears to be a calculated strike. While the specific motive remains unclear, the fact that the attackers removed the head suggests the victim was purposefully targeted. The university has notified the victim’s family, and the remains were transported to Bingham University Teaching Hospital. Management is currently preparing an official statement regarding the situation.
