Law enforcement officials in Kano State have successfully retrieved two stolen vehicles and taken one individual into custody. These actions were conducted by the Special Intervention Squad as part of a strategic policing initiative supported by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
Police spokesperson CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa detailed the first incident, which involved a white Toyota Hilux reported missing from Lamido Crescent. After Zaiyyad Farouk reported the theft, investigators tracked the vehicle to Kurna Asabe Quarters, where they located it in the possession of Abdussalam Salisu. The truck has since been returned to its owner, while the search for additional suspects continues.
In a separate operation, officers recovered a black Hyundai Elantra linked to an interstate crime ring. The vehicle had been taken from an Abuja mosque on July 10, 2026. Acting on intelligence, the tactical squad traced the car to Jigawa State. During an encounter on July 22, 2026, the suspects deserted the vehicle and escaped. Authorities are currently working to dismantle this criminal network and track down those responsible for the theft.
