Crystal Palace is looking at Chibuike Nwaiwu as a successor to Maxence Lacroix, as the French defender prepares to complete a 52 million pound move to Chelsea. According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, the clubs have finalized the terms for the transaction.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg notes that while Palace is monitoring Nwaiwu, their primary target remains Chrislain Matsima from FC Augsburg. The Bundesliga club has already dismissed an initial 20 million euro bid from the Eagles for the 24-year-old.
Nwaiwu is currently in a complex situation, having secured personal terms with Fulham. The Premier League side has been actively negotiating with Trabzonspor to acquire the Nigerian international, who arrived at the Turkish club from Wolfsberger AC this past January. Trabzonspor has set a 30 million euro asking price for his services.
