Cross River IPAC Forecasts 2.5 Million Voters for 2027 General Election

Cross River State’s IPAC expects voter turnout to hit 2.5 million in 2027, urging residents to register during the remaining window for the Continuous Voter Registration.

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Cross River State anticipates that at least 2.5 million residents will participate in the 2027 general election. Effiom Edet Okon, the state chairman, announced this goal during a recent media briefing. He explained that IPAC has spent several weeks organizing political parties across the 18 local government areas to encourage registration.

To achieve this, the council collaborated with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alongside various civil society groups, traditional leaders, religious organizations, and market unions. This unified effort aims to ensure every qualified citizen is captured during the Continuous Voter Registration process. Okon emphasized that hitting this target is essential for strengthening the state’s democratic influence and political standing within Nigeria.

Reflecting on previous data, approximately 1.766 million voters were registered for the 2023 elections, while the state’s total population now exceeds 5 million. IPAC is urging all unregistered residents to sign up immediately, reinforcing the message that civic participation depends entirely on voter registration.
