Coalition Challenges Legal Status of Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council

A civil society group has labeled the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council an illegal entity, demanding a government investigation into its suspicious inclusion in the 2026 budget.

The Coalition for Truth and Justice has raised serious doubts regarding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), specifically challenging the assertion by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi that he leads the entity as Director General. In a Wednesday statement, the group argued that the organization lacks any legal standing and urged the Federal Government to dismantle it to prevent potential fraudulent activities.

Addressing allegations of bribery linked to the council, the coalition pointed to earlier remarks by Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, who confirmed that the PFIPC is not a recognized government body and that no official appointments were ever sanctioned. Signatories Chief Henry Abba, Dr. Emeka Theodore, and Abdulhahi Sarki Barki asserted that government institutions require formal establishment rather than relying on social media declarations or persistent personal claims.

The group identified several red flags, including the total absence of the PFIPC from the Federal Government Gazette and the lack of official inauguration records or authenticated appointment letters. Furthermore, they voiced alarm over reports that over N1 billion was allocated to this entity in the 2026 budget. Consequently, the coalition has requested that President Bola Tinubu initiate an investigation, while also calling on the National Assembly and anti-corruption authorities to scrutinize the funding and origins of the council to ensure accountability.
