Chelsea Secure Signing of 19-Year-Old Prospect Geovany Quenda

Chelsea has officially signed 19-year-old winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon on a long-term deal lasting until 2034.

Chelsea FC has officially announced the acquisition of Portuguese winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon. The 19-year-old has signed a contract extension keeping him at Stamford Bridge through 2034.

Wednesday’s announcement highlighted Quenda as a top European prospect following his successful tenure at Sporting. His arrival follows a dominant season where he played a key role in Sporting Lisbon securing both the league title and domestic cup. Additionally, he earned the 2025 Primeira Liga Young Player of the Season award.

Reflecting on the transfer, Quenda stated his excitement to join the squad and work under manager Xabi Alonso. He emphasized his commitment to hard work and team success. During his time at Sporting, the teenager played 86 matches, set records as the club’s youngest scorer, and became the youngest Portuguese player to net a goal in the UEFA Champions League. A member of the Portugal Under-21 setup, Quenda was also honored in the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship Team of the Tournament. Chelsea opens their 2026/27 campaign against Fulham on August 24.
