The BTO Renewed Hope Group has publicly rejected claims made by Razak Obe, the former Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources in Ondo State, suggesting that Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo triggered internal conflicts within the state’s All Progressives Congress chapter.
Representing the group, secretary Tobi Olalekan labeled the accusations as entirely untrue. He clarified that Dr. Tunji-Ojo lacks the authority to dictate which candidates are selected for National Assembly contests. The statement explained that political friction is a typical occurrence following party primaries and asserted that blaming the Minister for candidate submissions reflects poorly on the party’s leadership.
The group questioned how the Minister could influence party officials who maintain independent professional integrity. Furthermore, they criticized Obe for stoking division, noting that he was not a participant in the recent primaries and lacks standing to speak on matters concerning the selection of candidates for the 2027 National Assembly elections.
