Brentford Promotes Super Eagles Defender Benjamin Fredrick to Senior Squad

Brentford has promoted Nigerian defender Benjamin Fredrick to the first team and signed him to a new four-year contract following his recovery from a knee injury.

Brentford has officially elevated Benjamin Fredrick to their first-team squad ahead of the 2026/27 English Premier League campaign. The club confirmed on their website that the Nigerian international centre-back has committed to a new four-year deal, which features an option for a further twelve months.

Now 21, Fredrick is training with Keith Andrews’ senior group as he prepares for the upcoming season. This promotion follows his successful tenure with the club’s development side and a loan spell at FCV Dender in Belgium during the 2025/26 season. Despite showing promise across 15 matches, his progress was slowed by a knee injury.

This setback sidelined him from important Super Eagles fixtures, halting his momentum within the national team setup. Having fully recovered, Fredrick is now focused on earning consistent minutes at Brentford and regaining his standing on the international stage. The long-term contract serves as a clear indication that the club values his development and expects him to play a key role moving forward.
