The Akwa Ibom State Police Command announced the successful recovery of a stolen Toyota Hilux. The vehicle, which features a black hood and bears the registration number NYA 399 AA, was originally reported missing on August 6, 2026, near Udo Eduok Street in Uyo.
According to police spokesperson DSP Timfon John, officers tracked the suspects until they reached a path inaccessible by vehicle. The individuals fled into the woods, leaving the truck behind. The rightful owner, Mr. Reginald, has since confirmed the vehicle is his, and police are continuing their search for the culprits.
In a separate incident that same evening, officers performing a routine check near the Federal Secretariat on Abak Road took 21-year-old Emmanuel Emmanson of Mkpat Enin LGA into custody. Authorities discovered three live cartridges in his possession.
During initial questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to belonging to the Black Axe Confraternity and stated that the ammunition was meant for a forest initiation ceremony. Emmanson remains in police custody while investigators work to track down other members of the group.
