Tuty Dityawanty, representing the Indonesian Ambassador, announced that Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) successfully prosecuted hundreds of powerful individuals, such as ministers, judges, and lawmakers, who were previously seen as above the law. She spoke at the Second International Diplomatic Dialogue in Abuja, hosted by the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
Dityawanty explained that the KPK’s strategy integrates legal prosecution with preventative measures and institutional monitoring. While she noted that corruption persists, particularly regarding public services and business licensing, the agency has built significant public trust by demonstrating that national progress is possible without illicit influence. Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, Provost of the Anti-Corruption Academy, highlighted Indonesia as a pivotal model for developing nations, emphasizing their current strategy known as Stranas PK.
Representing the ICPC, Secretary Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu suggested that Nigeria should study these methods to refine its own anti-graft policies. He stressed that the goal of the dialogue is to identify practical applications that can be adapted to Nigeria’s unique circumstances, ultimately strengthening national institutions and restoring faith in public governance.
