Following the recent violent incident in the Mushere District of Bokkos, the Inspector-General of Police sent Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) Morris Dankwambo to Plateau State. During his meeting with Governor Caleb Mutfwang in Jos, Dankwambo reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to finding and prosecuting those responsible for the tragedy.
AIG Dankwambo expressed the condolences of the police leadership, labeling the assault as an unforgivable crime against humanity. He reported that security forces have analyzed recent operational failures and are adjusting tactical deployments to improve safety for local residents. He also called on the community to assist by sharing intelligence and avoiding retaliatory actions, which he noted are vital for long-term stability.
Governor Mutfwang welcomed the visit as a sign of federal support. While highlighting the state’s previous efforts to stabilize the Mushere region through military and police reinforcements, he admitted that current security methods require adjustment. He confirmed that local authorities have already met to redesign their security strategy based on the recent intelligence collected.
Mutfwang also dismissed rumors of a state of emergency in any local government, noting that investigators are currently following promising leads to catch the attackers. He pledged that his administration would continue working closely with law enforcement to secure the region and return life to normal.
