2Baba urges government action following deadly Otukpo attacks

Singer 2Baba calls for urgent government intervention after a series of deadly attacks in Otukpo, Benue State, left at least 10 people dead.

Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, widely recognized as 2Baba, has publicly denounced the ongoing violence perpetrated by armed groups believed to be Fulani herdsmen in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. Reports indicate that numerous residents have been killed in unprovoked strikes since the start of 2026.

During a Wednesday visit to Otukpo-Nobi, the site of a July 12, 2026, assault that claimed the lives of at least 10 people and wounded many others, the Benue-born performer expressed his grief. He urged local stakeholders to prioritize finding immediate strategies to stop these persistent atrocities.

The singer emphasized that the frequency of these killings has become intolerable and requires a collective strategy to suppress the violent criminals involved. He noted that while a resolution will not happen overnight, the community must unite to confront the threat, stating that the situation has moved beyond a point where it can be ignored.
