Bauchi State Police officers successfully detained a 28-year-old man and retrieved a stolen motorcycle while conducting patrols within the city. SP Nafiu Habib, the police spokesperson, announced on Saturday that the suspect, identified as Hafiz Ahmad from Karofin Madaki, was pulled over at noon on July 4, 2026. Officers from the ‘E’ Division in Yelwa spotted him riding an unregistered black Jiacheng motorcycle worth N450,000 near Yelwan Kagadama.
During questioning, Ahmad admitted to taking the bike from Unguwar Kusu in the Yelwa district. Law enforcement officials later located the true owner, a 23-year-old man from the Federal Low-Cost Housing Estate, who verified his ownership with official documents. The motorcycle was subsequently returned to him. Authorities confirmed that the suspect faces pending court proceedings once the investigation concludes.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu lauded the officers for their alertness. He urged residents to keep accurate vehicle records and to promptly report any suspicious activity to their local police stations.
