Suspected armed herdsmen have abducted three siblings while they were transporting their late mother’s remains from Abuja to Benue State. The incident occurred early Saturday along the Ogobia–Otukpo Road in the Ohimini Local Government Area.
The family was en route to Iklenyi in the Okpokwu Local Government Area for burial when mechanical issues delayed their vehicle. Despite the setback, they continued their journey under the cover of darkness. As they traveled between the Omutele and Ankpechi communities, gunmen ambushed them, kidnapping the siblings and taking the mother’s corpse into the nearby bush.
Gabriel Adole, the Chairman of the Ohimini Local Government Area, confirmed receiving reports of the abduction and stated he is traveling to the location to gather more information. Meanwhile, community members are urging security forces to launch an immediate rescue operation. The Benue State Police Command has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the kidnapping.
