A young girl named Ummul Khair has passed away in Katsina State, sparking an official police inquiry. Authorities have apprehended her father, Kabir Sani, following accusations that he physically attacked her prior to her death.
The event took place in the Shagari Low-Cost district of Katsina. Locals suggest the conflict between the parent and child stemmed from a forced marriage arrangement that the teenager opposed. Witnesses indicated that arguments regarding this suitor had been a recurring issue in the household.
According to those living nearby, the girl endured a severe beating that started on Wednesday. Multiple neighbors reported hearing desperate cries for assistance from the home, though they were blocked from entering. Concerns escalated as the sounds of distress continued through the night. The discovery of her death occurred when classmates stopped by the home to walk with her to school.
DSP Sadik Aliyu, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, confirmed that Kabir Sani is currently in custody. Law enforcement officials have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fatality.
