A severe rainstorm hit several neighborhoods in Yobe State’s Nguru Local Government Area overnight, resulting in three confirmed deaths. The extreme weather caused widespread destruction of homes and personal assets valued at millions of naira.
Affected regions include Filing Idi and Tsohon Nguru, where hundreds of residents now face displacement. Local witness Bukar Adamu reported that the storm leveled walls and damaged residential structures, compelling many families to relocate to public facilities or the homes of family members. Residents are now urging government authorities and donors to provide urgent assistance to those impacted.
Another victim, Mustapha Modu, described the severity of the incident, noting that the powerful winds tore roofs from buildings and devastated local markets. Modu confirmed he had to relocate his family to his brother’s residence after his own home was severely compromised.
