Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are advocating for a shift in how President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign is managed. During an inauguration event for the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Canvassers in Abuja, stakeholders argued that political efforts should be anchored at the polling unit level rather than being directed from federal or state capitals.
Dr. Dominic Alancha, the convener of the Concerned National APC Stakeholders Forum, emphasized that election success relies on engaging everyday citizens, such as farmers, artisans, and youth, directly within their own communities. He instructed the newly appointed coordinators to act as honest representatives who listen to the public and counter misinformation with facts rather than hostility.
The group’s strategy hinges on a bottom-up approach: securing individual polling units to win wards, which in turn leads to victory at the local government, state, and national levels. Dr. Alancha stressed that the movement must prioritize party cohesion and avoid unnecessary conflict with political opponents.
At the same event, Dr. Amos Gizo Yadukso, Chairman of the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, praised the administration’s focus on stabilizing university education and infrastructure. He addressed concerns regarding the previous Muslim-Muslim ticket, urging voters to recognize that the current government includes prominent figures from the North Central region across various key roles. Dr. Yadukso also warned against groups inflating their membership numbers, insisting that future mobilization must be based on verifiable, unit-level data to ensure meaningful impact in 2027.
