APC Leader Olatunbosun Oyintiloye Praises NYSC Overhaul as Job Creation Strategy

APC leader Olatunbosun Oyintiloye supports the federal government’s comprehensive NYSC reforms, highlighting the program’s new focus on specialized skills training to drive economic growth and reduce youth unemployment.

All Progressives Congress chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has hailed the recent updates to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as a vital move toward transforming the program into a skills-based engine for national growth. Speaking to reporters in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye noted that the Federal Government’s decision supports the goal of reaching a $1 trillion economy by training graduates for the modern labor market.

The revamped framework introduces specialized service streams, allowing corps members to align their service with their professional backgrounds and personal career goals. These pathways include sectors such as Agriculture, Technology, Medicine, Infrastructure, and the Creative Economy. Participants will undergo tailored training during their orientation to ensure they gain practical expertise relevant to their fields.

Oyintiloye described this shift as the most significant update to the organization in its 53-year history, emphasizing that it moves away from traditional service models toward an approach focused on innovation and productivity. By equipping youth with market-ready skills, the government aims to curb unemployment and boost human capital development. While these changes modernize the program, Oyintiloye maintained that the core mission of the NYSC—to foster unity and national integration among Nigerian youth—remains intact.
