APC Chieftain Dismisses Peter Obi’s Claims of 2027 Campaign Sabotage

APC chieftain Dr. George Agbakahi has rejected Peter Obi’s allegations of a plot to prevent him from contesting the 2027 election, calling the claims baseless and urging leaders to focus on organizational competence.

Dr. George Agbakahi, an All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in the South-East, has labeled claims by former presidential candidate Peter Obi regarding a plot to block his 2027 run as unfounded and politically driven. Speaking in Abuja, Agbakahi insisted that accusations of executive interference must rely on solid proof instead of mere speculation.

Addressing concerns about the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Agbakahi clarified that the ongoing legal issues involving party registration are civil disputes, not government-led initiatives. He defended the independence of both the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), asserting that regulatory scrutiny of political organizations is standard practice in a democracy.

Agbakahi suggested that Obi is using these narratives to distract from his own internal party challenges. He argued that successful presidential bids require organizational competence and legal stability, responsibilities that rest with party leaders rather than the federal government. Furthermore, he praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s history of coalition-building, suggesting that the president does not need to resort to manipulation to win elections.

Ultimately, the APC chieftain urged political figures to resolve disputes through judicial channels and focus on policy ideas rather than conspiracy theories. He reaffirmed that the 2027 election remains accessible to any candidate meeting constitutional standards, noting that voters will ultimately decide the outcome at the polls.
