The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) is pushing for an exhaustive inquiry into the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Chief Peter Ameh, the coalition’s Acting National Chairman, highlighted serious doubts regarding the council’s legal standing during a Sunday interview in Abuja.
Ameh noted that the inclusion of the PFIPC in the 2026 budget is highly irregular, given that the budget call circular was sent to government ministries and agencies. He questioned the administrative path that allowed this entity to reach the stage of presidential approval, demanding a transparent explanation of the vetting process.
Furthermore, concerns were raised regarding reports that the council secured a bank account with the Central Bank of Nigeria. Ameh suggested this development warrants an investigation into whether official protocols were bypassed. He specifically called on Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to step aside if his presence interferes with an impartial inquiry.
Ultimately, the coalition has urged the National Assembly and anti-corruption watchdogs to conduct a rigorous review. Ameh emphasized that the public expects government actions to be rooted in integrity and strict adherence to the law.
