Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has formally countered remarks made by Labour Party leader Peter Obi, who recently suggested that President Bola Tinubu is exhausted and should resign before the 2027 election cycle. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Yilwatda rejected the notion that the President lacks the stamina to govern, arguing that Tinubu remains deeply involved in driving national initiatives from dawn until dusk.
Yilwatda questioned the logic behind Obi’s critique, rhetorically asking if presidential fitness should be measured by athletic standards rather than administrative output. He emphasized that millions of citizens currently benefiting from government initiatives, such as the NELFUND student loan program, would not support a call for the President to step down.
To support his stance, the APC leader pointed to several major infrastructure projects currently underway, including the ambitious Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the construction of five new seaports spanning Calabar, Akwa Ibom, Port Harcourt, Ondo, and Lagos. Furthermore, Yilwatda highlighted the ongoing modernization of the national aviation sector as clear evidence of a government that is actively investing in critical infrastructure across all regions of the country.
Ultimately, Yilwatda maintained that the administration’s focus on sectors like education, maritime development, and transportation serves as a firm rebuttal to suggestions that President Tinubu is unable to fulfill his official responsibilities.
