ADC claims fraudulent INEC papers used in nomination dispute

The ADC has accused a rival group of fabricating INEC documents to falsely claim they submitted nominations, while the party reaffirms its own legitimate candidacy filings.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed that a faction headed by Nafiu Bala Gombe is utilizing counterfeit documents allegedly from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This group asserts they successfully submitted a presidential candidate and other nominees via the commission’s official portal. The ADC is now urging INEC to probe this alleged forgery, warning that the incident threatens the public’s trust in the electoral process.

National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi stated that the claims are baseless, emphasizing that only the leadership officially recognized by INEC possesses the credentials to access the nomination system. The party pointed out that INEC does not issue multiple access codes to a single party, noting that such a practice would allow unauthorized individuals to falsely claim leadership status.

Regarding the validity of these claims, the ADC challenged the opposing group to present concrete evidence of their supposed submission. They characterized the situation as a calculated effort to sow discord among the public. The ADC affirmed that its legitimate leadership has already completed the nomination process according to electoral laws.

Furthermore, the party confirmed the submission of presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, to the commission. As the 2027 elections near, the ADC expects ongoing attempts to divert their attention but maintains that it will remain dedicated to offering a viable political alternative focused on economic recovery and national security. Supporters are encouraged to disregard unofficial reports and rely solely on verified communications.
