Odesola Oluseye Titus, the head of the Osun State Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) caretaker committee, has officially asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ignore statements made by Dr. Tosin Odeyemi regarding his status as a representative of the organization. During a media briefing on Saturday, Titus argued that Odeyemi possesses no legal standing to speak for the council, noting that his prior resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) effectively ended his involvement with the group.
Titus further clarified that the Democratic Leadership Alliance, the party Odeyemi claims to lead, does not appear on the official INEC portal. He characterized Odeyemi’s recent complaints about the IPAC national leadership as unfounded, suggesting that they stem from personal ambition rather than institutional issues. By establishing a caretaker committee, the national secretariat has successfully prevented a leadership gap before the upcoming August 15 governorship election.
Conversely, a dissenting group led by Odeyemi previously accused the national IPAC leadership of bias and incompetence. This faction argued that the imposition of a caretaker committee was illegitimate, asserting that the state body should have held elections following the conclusion of the previous administration’s tenure. Odeyemi has pushed for INEC to halt official interactions with the current caretaker leadership, yet Titus maintains that the council remains focused on ensuring electoral integrity and expects stakeholders to only engage with officially recognized representatives.
