Adamawa ADC Candidates Demand New Local Elections Following Results Rejection

ADC candidates in Adamawa State have formally challenged the local government election results, branding the process a sham and demanding a rerun due to widespread irregularities.

Participants from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who ran for council and chairmanship seats in Adamawa State’s June 13, 2026, local government elections have formally refused to accept the final results. They characterized the process as a sham and are pushing for a completely new electoral exercise.

The current results indicate that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured all 21 chairmanship positions and all 226 councillorship slots. Speaking to the press in Yola, the ADC representatives argued that the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) failed to provide a credible process.

Abubakar Ahmadu, acting as a spokesperson for the group, stated that no voting took place in any of the local government councils on that date. He questioned the legitimacy of the declared winners and labeled the situation as electoral theft. The group is now urging constitutional advocacy organizations to step in, while formally demanding that ADSIEC schedule a transparent, fair, and inclusive election to replace the disputed outcome.
