He did reiterate his willingness to challenge the administration if necessary, maintaining that defending national interests must always take precedence. While President Trump recently signaled his support for Burnham on his social media platform, he had previously characterized the new Prime Minister as being very liberal. This diplomatic balancing act follows a period of tense interactions between the Trump administration and Burnham’s predecessor, Keir Starmer.
