Ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards have been picked up by citizens. This total accounts for 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the region.
National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna noted that 426,842 cards remain unclaimed. Following standard procedure, these 18.50 per cent of uncollected cards have been moved to the Central Bank of Nigeria for secure storage. Additionally, 6,101 voters who requested replacements for lost or damaged cards have accessed digital versions of their documents.
The electoral body has made a detailed breakdown of collected cards available on its official website. Haruna reiterated that the commission is prepared for the upcoming election, offering assurances to political stakeholders, media outlets, and the general public regarding the planned date.
