Faruk Mustapha, Ex-Bauchi Commissioner, Quits Allied Peoples’ Movement

Former Bauchi Commissioner Faruk Mustapha has resigned from the APM, citing strategic reasons as he considers his path for the 2027 elections.

Hon. Faruk Mustapha, the former Commissioner for Special Duties and Rural Development in Bauchi State, has officially stepped down from the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) as the nation looks toward the 2027 general elections. Mustapha, who spearheaded Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s 2023 campaign as Director-General, previously sought the governorship nomination but failed to obtain the party’s candidacy.

In a formal correspondence dated May 5, 2026, directed to the APM chairman of his local ward in the Katagum area, Mustapha announced that his departure was effective immediately. He requested the removal of his name from party records, formally giving up his affiliations and rights within the organization. While thanking the APM leadership for past opportunities, he clarified that this move serves his long-term political career.

Regarding his future, Mustapha stated that he is currently engaged in discussions to determine his next political steps. He informed reporters that he will provide updates soon regarding his platform for the upcoming 2027 elections. He also encouraged his supporters to remain patient until a final decision is established.
