APC Leadership Gathers in Osogbo for Final Governorship Campaign Rally

Key APC leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, descended on Osogbo for a final campaign rally to support governorship candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Progressive Governors Forum Chairman Hope Uzodimma have reached Osogbo to lead a major All Progressives Congress rally. This event marks a final push for the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, as the August 15, 2026, governorship election approaches. Joining them are governors from Edo, Kogi, and Ondo, alongside Representative James Faleke.

This rally serves as the concluding campaign activity, drawing party officials and supporters from all 30 local government areas in Osun State. The Independent National Electoral Commission set the campaign deadline for August 13 after moving the original voting date from August 8 to August 15. Candidate Oyebamiji faces a competitive field, including the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, as well as challengers from the ADC and PRP.

The election atmosphere remains tense, marked by recent reports of violence and accusations from the Accord Party regarding the use of federal influence. Additionally, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission recently blocked the state government accounts, though President Bola Tinubu directed the agency to lift this restriction shortly after.
