Lere Olayinka, the media spokesperson for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, recently challenged former PDP Deputy National Chairman Bode George to exhibit the maturity expected of his age. In a public statement, Olayinka urged George to cease his frequent media appearances, describing his conduct as a source of embarrassment to both himself and the Yoruba community.
Highlighting George’s past tenure as the Military Governor of the old Ondo State in 1988, Olayinka questioned why the elder statesman continues to target younger individuals with harsh rhetoric. He pointed out that since 1999, George has consistently failed to secure electoral victories for his party in his own polling unit, unlike other states in the southwest where the PDP has achieved success.
Olayinka further suggested that George should focus on explaining the party’s ongoing struggles in Lagos rather than engaging in constant public disputes. Reminding him that cultural respect for elders is conditional upon the elder maintaining their own dignity, Olayinka noted that George’s peers from his time in office act with significantly more restraint and decorum.
