Reuben Izeze, the suspended Delta State Commissioner for Works, is currently being held at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Warri. He was remanded following a court appearance on Monday at the Effurun High Court, where he and an associate, Simeon Aguariavwodo, faced charges related to the alleged assault of Simon Umudi, a protocol aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Despite his legal situation, sources within the detention center report that Izeze has maintained a positive attitude and is actively working to assist other inmates. He has reportedly paid the outstanding fines for several detainees, securing their release and easing the financial pressure on their families. Additionally, Izeze is looking into a partnership with the Niger Delta Development Commission to install a new water system for the facility, which would provide better access to clean water for those residing there.
Beyond infrastructure improvements, he is planning a football tournament for the inmates to foster a sense of community and recreation. Associates noted that Izeze remains focused on the dignity and welfare of others while his own legal case regarding the attempted murder charge proceeds through the court.
