Yusuf Dantalle, the National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has voiced his apprehension regarding the surge in electoral unrest within Osun State. With the governorship election scheduled for August 15, specific regions have emerged as significant areas of concern for potential volatility.
During an appearance on Arise News, Dantalle urged political figures to refrain from targeting the very constituents they aim to represent. Highlighting the recent damage to lives and property, he described the trend of violence as contradictory to democratic values. He stressed that elections should be a peaceful process where citizens freely select their leaders.
Dantalle addressed multiple stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security services, and traditional leaders, calling for a collective focus on the welfare of Osun residents. He specifically condemned the misuse of state resources to intimidate political rivals.
The IPAC leader warned that failing to curb these aggressive tactics could set a dangerous precedent for the 2027 general elections. He urged all parties involved to prioritize restraint and uphold the integrity of the democratic process to protect the progress made in the nation’s political landscape.
