Oladipupo Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, has unveiled a platform focused on security, local government independence, and agricultural development. During a press event in Abeokuta, Adebutu emphasized that his administration would prioritize the safety of lives and property as a prerequisite for any economic growth.
Highlighting the neglected state of law enforcement infrastructure, Adebutu noted his history of privately funding fuel and repairs for police stations. He also pointed to his installation of solar streetlights as a proactive measure to deter crime in underserved areas. Addressing the structural decline of local councils, he argued that granting them full autonomy is essential to restoring effective grassroots governance and ending excessive state-level interference.
On the economic front, the candidate positioned agriculture as a primary driver for youth employment and wealth generation. He encouraged younger citizens to pursue commercial farming and livestock ventures, citing his efforts to connect them with affordable, low-interest financing. Furthermore, he proposed an educational overhaul to emphasize vocational and digital skills, ensuring that students possess practical abilities beyond academic degrees.
During the same session, Iyabo Obasanjo discussed her shift to the PDP, citing a preference for a platform that values integrity and public welfare over personal ambition. Meanwhile, State PDP Chairman Dr. Abayomi Tella declared the party ready for the 2027 polls, dismissing claims of internal weakness and reaffirming support for Adebutu’s vision for grassroots-focused leadership.
