The Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully launched targeted aerial attacks against a significant force of armed militants traveling from Zamfara State to Kebbi State. Security analyst Zagazola Makama noted that many of these individuals likely perished during the strikes.
Reports indicate the militants were relocating from the Sangeko Gap in Zamfara toward Makuku in Kebbi. The group consisted of approximately 240 fighters split into three separate motorcycle formations. Upon receiving reliable intelligence, Nigerian Army soldiers and police officers were deployed to stop the advance, resulting in heavy fighting.
The air force conducted interdiction missions once the group was spotted. Operations focused on specific concentrations of fighters, effectively scattering their ranks and stopping the incursion. These air strikes also offered critical assistance to ground units and shielded local towns from attack. Fearing further violence, many residents in the region have started to evacuate their homes as a safety measure. Authorities are currently reviewing the aftermath of the engagement to confirm the total number of casualties.
