Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has advocated for a tighter alliance between the state and the Church to foster a new generation of disciplined and responsible citizens. Speaking at the 50th anniversary service of the Egba Anglican Diocese in Abeokuta, the Governor emphasized that while the government focuses on infrastructure and economic growth, religious institutions are essential for shaping character and moral values.
Abiodun noted that true progress requires more than physical construction; it demands an investment in human capital. He cautioned that as technology and artificial intelligence continue to evolve, they must not erode human conscience or wisdom. Instead, the Governor insisted that progress should prioritize moral integrity alongside technological innovation.
During the event, which was attended by dignitaries including the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Governor received the Distinguished Benefactor Award for his support of the Diocese. The monarch praised Abiodun for his administration’s achievements in housing and infrastructure development. The service also featured a sermon by the Primate of All Nigeria, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, who encouraged the congregation to remain committed to their faith and societal service.
