Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has provided reasons for his inability to present the self-titled Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, Adeniyi, to the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee. In a formal communication delivered on Wednesday, police officials stated that Adeniyi is currently detained under a lawful court order as they investigate accusations involving forgery and conspiracy.
This update clarifies why the individual did not attend the legislative hearing as previously ordered. During the Wednesday session, Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi read the police correspondence aloud. Gagdi explained that the committee chose to release this information to ensure the public understands that Adeniyi did not willfully disregard the National Assembly subpoena.
The Chairman emphasized that the committee remains committed to the principle of separation of powers and will not obstruct an ongoing criminal probe. He noted that the police must first have the existing court remand order vacated before they are legally permitted to transport the suspect to the National Assembly for questioning.
