Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni has publicly challenged the credentials of presidential hopefuls following the release of nomination documents by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a social media post, Oseni expressed disbelief that individuals could seek the presidency without providing details regarding their primary schooling.
This scrutiny follows the INEC disclosure of files for the upcoming 2027 election. Notably, the documents for All Progressives Congress candidate, President Bola Tinubu, list only his Chicago State University degree, with primary and secondary school fields marked as 0000. Conversely, candidates Peter Obi of the NDC and Atiku Abubakar of the ADC provided complete educational histories starting from primary school.
INEC stated that the public display of these credentials is a legal requirement, allowing citizens to verify the accuracy of candidate filings. Under the Electoral Act, any individual who identifies false information in these affidavits may initiate a legal challenge.
