Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, has issued a stern warning to recent graduates of the Nigerian Military School in Zaria regarding the risks of improper social media use. He emphasized that sharing classified details online can threaten both national security and active military missions.
This advisory was given during the school’s 68th Passing Out Parade held this past Saturday in Kaduna State. Representing General Shaibu, Major General GM Mutkut, the Commander of the Infantry Corps, delivered the speech. The Army leadership stressed that graduates must maintain high standards of discipline and professionalism, ensuring their future actions always align with human rights and established operational protocols.
Reflecting on the graduates’ six-year journey, the Army Chief praised their resilience in completing the demanding training program. He noted that the institution has prepared these young men to serve Nigeria with integrity and skill. Furthermore, Shaibu highlighted various career growth paths available to them, specifically noting military-sponsored education programs that encourage soldiers to pursue advanced academic degrees.
The event also featured an acknowledgment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing military welfare and operational capacity. As the ceremony concluded, the graduates were reminded to act as loyal representatives of the Nigerian Military School throughout their careers, maintaining strict confidentiality regarding their duties.
