The Catholic Diocese of Otukpo in Benue State has verified that Kelvin Ochai, a seminarian previously kidnapped by armed individuals in the Asa III area of Otukpo, has returned safely. Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Itodo, the Chancellor of the Diocese, confirmed the development in a statement released this Saturday.
According to the diocese, Ochai managed to break free from his captors on the evening of July 31, 2026. He traveled to Aliade in the Gwer East Local Government Area, where he safely rejoined his family without any injuries. Father Itodo credited this outcome to divine intervention and the collective prayers of the community.
Most Rev. Michael Ekwoyi Apochi, the Bishop of the Otukpo Diocese, extended his appreciation to the clergy, the lay faithful, and all supporters who stood by them throughout the ordeal.
