Just three weeks after its official launch on July 1st, a section of the 672-meter LAMECO flyover in Osogbo has developed significant structural issues. The damage became apparent early Friday morning following an eight-hour rainstorm that struck the state capital.
Drivers and local residents quickly noticed a visible depression and cracking on one lane of the bridge, prompting many to seek alternate routes for safety. To manage the risk, authorities have cordoned off the area, with members of the Amotekun security corps stationed at the site to restrict all traffic.
The Accord party has since issued a statement characterizing the damage as a result of political sabotage. They accused the All Progressives Congress of targeting public projects developed by Governor Ademola Adeleke to undermine his administration’s reputation before the upcoming gubernatorial election. While the opposition faces these allegations, commuters are calling for swift repairs to ensure the long-term integrity of the infrastructure.
