Authorities at the Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) are actively searching for a group of vandals accused of stealing electrical equipment from Government Unity School in Ringim. The incident, which resulted in the loss of armoured cables valued at approximately N1 million, was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, on Saturday.
According to the report, over ten individuals stormed the school grounds around 2 am on Thursday, July 30, 2026. The group successfully neutralized three security guards on duty before stripping 12 metres of 75 mm² armoured cable from the facility’s transformer. The monetary value of the stolen items is estimated to be between N900,000 and N1.05 million.
NSCDC officials from the Ringim Division arrived shortly after being alerted to begin their investigation. State Commandant Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa denounced the destruction of essential public infrastructure. He called for heightened awareness among security staff at public institutions and requested that local citizens share any relevant information to help track down the perpetrators. The command has pledged to pursue and bring all involved parties to justice.
