Soldiers from the Nigerian Army successfully eliminated four suspected kidnappers, freed three hostages, and captured eight individuals during recent missions throughout Kogi and Kwara states. Details emerged in an official report released Friday in Abuja.
Operation Savannah Shield forces set a trap for criminals near Jonloji village, located in the riverine territory of Kaiama, Kwara State. The encounter resulted in four fatalities among the kidnappers and the recovery of a pump-action firearm, four motorbikes, and a sum of N64,000. The rescued individual was transported to Kaiama General Hospital for care.
In a separate action, military personnel at the Forward Operating Base in Egbe rescued two people who had been taken on July 21 from Ruga Mascaru in the Yagba West region of Kogi. The victims were returned to their relatives after their captors abandoned the scene.
The report also noted activity in Plateau State, where soldiers apprehended three men for an attempted sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl. Additionally, troops restored order following a dispute between a farmer and a herder, which involved property damage and physical injury. Security forces also disrupted an armed robbery plot along the Hawan Kibo-Rafin Sanyi highway by driving off the perpetrators. Various other military operations across the country continued as scheduled without major complications.
