The spouse and child of a prominent ISWAP commander have surrendered to soldiers belonging to Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the news through a statement on X.
Aisha Musa, aged 27, arrived at the 3 Battalion (Main) station via Kusuma Village around 3:42 p.m. on July 29, accompanied by her 11-year-old son. Reports indicate that her husband, the former chief finance officer for the ISWAP enclave in Jubillaram, had directed them to seek safety with the military if he managed to escape. The commander himself had surrendered to government forces on July 25, 2026.
Upon arrival, both individuals underwent mandatory security screening and searches. They are currently being held by the 24 Task Force Brigade and will be transferred to the 7 Division Headquarters for standard administrative processing. This incident highlights a trend of defectors fleeing insurgent territory due to the ongoing military pressure exerted by Operation HADIN KAI. Security forces remain active in the region, maintaining a state of high alert as they continue their operations against militant groups.
