The Nigerian military has publicly named several high-ranking leaders and operatives associated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) active near the Lake Chad Basin in Borno State. This follows a series of offensives by Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) troops in the northern part of the state.
Captain Mohammed Goni, acting information officer for the Joint Task Force, stated that soldiers seized various technical assets and intelligence materials during recent raids. Among these items was a camcorder containing propaganda and operational documentation. Forensic analysis of these devices revealed the specific locations of terrorist cells and confirmed the identities of key figures in the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun area.
The identified suspects include the ISWAP Wali, Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, alongside his deputy Muhammad Jidda and Amirul-Fiya Hamad Abu Hanifa. The military has prioritized the capture of Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, offering a significant cash reward for reliable information that assists in his apprehension.
