LASTMA Launches In-Person Complaint Desk Following Toll-Free Line Success

LASTMA has introduced a physical complaint office at its Oshodi headquarters to supplement its successful toll-free hotline, which logged nearly 3,000 interactions in its first month.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported 2,843 public interactions through its new toll-free hotline during its first month of service. Data from the agency’s Digital Centre shows these engagements occurred between June 28 and July 29, 2026.

Of the total calls, 1,047 were general enquiries, 709 were commendations, 468 related to resolved cases, and 400 involved reports of accidents or vehicle breakdowns. Additionally, the agency handled 163 formal complaints and 11 information requests, while 45 calls were lost to technical issues. General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki stated that the high volume reflects increasing public trust in the organization’s commitment to traffic management and road safety.

To support this initiative, LASTMA has opened a Physical Complaint Centre at its Oshodi headquarters. This facility is designed for individuals who prefer in-person interactions to report concerns or inquire about officer conduct. Bakare-Oki emphasized that the agency follows a zero-tolerance policy regarding extortion and unprofessional behavior. Every report will undergo a thorough, impartial investigation in line with established Public Service Rules. These channels are part of a wider reform agenda meant to improve transparency and foster stronger communication with the people of Lagos.
