The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sharply rebuked President Bola Tinubu for declaring he is ready to engage in a ‘fight to the finish’ regarding political matters. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement urging the President to redirect this combative energy toward addressing the threats posed by terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers.
The opposition party emphasized that citizens are desperate for the administration to tackle the growing insecurity across Nigeria rather than starting unnecessary political conflicts. The ADC expressed deep concern that the President made these inflammatory remarks during a meeting with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria in Abuja. This occurred shortly after gunmen murdered at least 30 individuals in the village of Naridon, located in Kaduna State’s Kauru Local Government Area.
The statement pointedly argued that Nigerians did not choose a Commander-in-Chief to primarily serve as a source of formal condolence messages. The ADC maintained that the President’s duty is to combat the criminal groups destroying lives and displacing families, such as those responsible for the destruction in Naridon, rather than focusing on the opposition.
