A House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee, led by Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, has concluded that the appointment letter for the supposed Director-General of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) is counterfeit. The committee, which is probing the irregular creation of the PEAC and the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), discovered that official approvals were sought using a series of fabricated government papers.
Investigations involving the Nigeria Police Force and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed that the appointment of Prince Adeyemi was not legitimate. Forensic analysis revealed that signatures on the document were not just forged but entirely fake, failing to mimic the actual signature of the President’s Chief of Staff. Furthermore, the committee identified that the Establishment Act presented to secure government backing lacked necessary legal hallmarks, such as citation numbers and official gazette stamps.
Gagdi also reported the discovery of a non-existent State House department, the Directorate of Administration and Support Services, which was cited in the fraudulent documentation. While the inquiry is nearing completion, the committee plans to conduct additional verifications and hold final private meetings before releasing its official report to the public next week.
