INEC Refutes Rumors Regarding Voter Registration Suspension in Delta State

INEC has officially dismissed false online claims suggesting that voter registration was suspended in Akwukwu Igbo, Delta State, confirming that the process is proceeding according to its original schedule.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially refuted claims circulating online that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process in Akwukwu Igbo, located in the Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, was halted because of broken equipment.

Mrs. Nseabasi Udom, the commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity, issued a statement on Friday characterizing the reports as inaccurate and unauthorized by the agency. INEC clarified that the registration remains active according to a pre-planned rotation. The exercise was moved to Ibusa on Thursday, where it was completed as intended.

Operations at the Akwukwu Igbo registration point are set to continue from July 6 through July 10, following the established regional timetable. The commission cautioned residents in and around Akwukwu Igbo to ignore the misleading viral posts and instead seek information through legitimate INEC platforms.

Officials encouraged all qualified voters to continue their registration activities as planned, emphasizing that there have been no cancellations. INEC restated its dedication to providing a fair and reliable voter registration experience for all residents throughout the state.
