Micky Gray Encourages Manchester United to Secure Cristian Romero Over Rival Bids

Former Sunderland player Micky Gray believes Manchester United should prioritize signing Tottenham’s Cristian Romero ahead of Premier League rivals.

Former Sunderland defender Micky Gray is pushing for Manchester United to enter the race for Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero. The Argentine center-back is reportedly eager to exit Tottenham, and Gray believes United should move quickly to beat interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Gray admitted that while Romero has faced issues during his tenure at Spurs, his undeniable skill makes him a prime target. He highlighted the potential for a defensive reunion with Lisandro Martinez as a major benefit for United. Gray noted that under the guidance of Michael Carrick and his coaching staff, the defender could find the necessary focus to excel.

Although United has younger options like Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven, Gray suggests that competing in the Champions League necessitates a deep squad. Currently, Spurs are in talks with Inter Milan regarding the player, while Arsenal monitors the situation following William Saliba’s injury. Chelsea remains a possible suitor despite their recent acquisition of Maxence Lacroix for £52 million.
