RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande has reached an agreement on personal terms with Real Madrid. This development follows Paris St-Germain’s decision to pull out of the race to sign the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international.
Previously, Liverpool had shown strong interest, seeing a £69m offer turned down in June before shifting their focus elsewhere. PSG also pursued the player, reportedly seeing a £102.5m bid rejected this past Sunday, before deciding against engaging in a competitive bidding situation with Madrid. The Spanish giants are expected to pay a fee exceeding £100m for the winger.
The contract offered to Diomande reportedly mirrors the structure of Jude Bellingham’s current deal, featuring performance-based incentives that increase in value over time. Negotiations were led by Real Madrid’s Jose Angel and Juni Calafat, who have monitored the player’s development for five years, well before his notable performance at this summer’s World Cup.
While RB Leipzig preferred to retain the forward, they ultimately found the financial scale of the offer too significant to dismiss. Diomande, who was named the Bundesliga’s young player of the season for 2025-26, recorded 12 goals and eight assists during his previous campaign. He originally moved from Ivory Coast to a United States academy in 2025 before starting his European career at Leganes.
